Amazon Australia has opened two purpose-built logistics facilities in Victoria, representing a $200 million investment and creating 700 new jobs across Melbourne.

The new 52,000-square-metre fulfilment centre in Cranbourne West – the size of two and a half AFL fields – will employ more than 500 people locally and improve delivery speeds for customers across Melbourne. The site can store up to four million products available on Amazon.com.au, including electronics, beauty, furniture, books and everyday essentials.

Jobs at the facility range from entry-level roles with on-the-job training, including forklift certification, to skilled positions in Operations, Human Resources, Engineering and Workplace Health and Safety. The majority of roles will be permanent and full-time, with leading pay, subsidised private healthcare and up to 20 weeks’ paid parental leave.

“We’re proud to be creating hundreds of high-quality local job opportunities, offering on-the-job training and exciting career opportunities, in a safe and positive environment,” said Janet Menzies, Amazon Australia Country Manager.

In addition to the Cranbourne West site, Amazon has opened an 8,800-square-metre delivery station in Ravenhall. Serving as a last-mile delivery hub, the facility will create more than 200 jobs and provide opportunities for local entrepreneurs to become Amazon Delivery Service Partners or earn flexibly through Amazon Flex.

The new sites promise to strengthen Amazon’s logistics network in Victoria, boosting delivery outcomes for customers while creating pathways for local employment and small business growth.

“Amazon’s investment is a vote of confidence in our workforce and small business – and it sends a clear message that Victoria’s economy is going from strength to strength,” The Hon Danny Pearson MP, Minister for Finance of Victoria concluded.
