Daikin Completes $28.6 Million NSW Manufacturing Facility
Daikin Australia has completed construction of a new $28.6 million manufacturing facility in Chipping Norton, Western Sydney, marking a significant expansion of the company's local production capability.
The new Factory expands Daikin's capacity to produce customised Air Handling Units and Rooftop Packaged Air Conditioners, with potential to extend ducted indoor production as demand grows. The facility also incorporates autonomous mobile robots, expanded solar photovoltaic generation, and digitalised sale-to-manufacture processing, supporting Daikin's goal of achieving carbon-neutral manufacturing by 2030.
Supply chain and property consultancy TMX Transform supported the project throughout. Adam McDonald, Head of Operations at TMX Transform, said Daikin's investment reflected a genuine commitment to local manufacturing.
"This is a complex existing site, and as specialists in the industrial and manufacturing space, TMX Transform understands the bespoke needs of facilities like this and how to deliver on them. That positions Daikin to better serve their customers well into the future," McDonald said.
The facility has already created more than 60 full-time roles across production, research and development, and support functions, exceeding the initial target of 45 positions. Daikin now employs more than 700 people nationally.
Beyond Factory 2, Daikin has brought printed circuit board manufacturing onshore, achieved Australian Made certification for most locally built products, and established a skills training program led by Daikin Japan-trained experts.
Hideaki Furihata, Managing Director of Daikin Australia, said the investment reflects the company's confidence in the local market and workforce. "This new factory strengthens our ability to meet the needs of Australian customers with products that are designed, engineered and built here," Furihata said.
All ducted systems, rooftop packaged units and air-handling units produced at the Chipping Norton facility carry the Australian Made mark.
