Refresh Your Brand: Rippl and Onpack Collaborate on Custom Canned Water

Hinterkopf D240 at Onpack

Onpack, a leading Australian packaging and label manufacturer, has announced its partnership with Melbourne-based water solutions brand Rippl to support the growth of its custom-branded mineral water business. Leveraging Onpack’s advanced digital direct-to-can printing capabilities, Rippl has to date produced 716 uniquely designed aluminium  with speed, precision and minimal environmental impact.

Founded in 2023, Rippl has quickly become Australia’s leading provider of innovative water solutions for both businesses and consumers. Alongside its premium custom-branded aluminium bottled mineral water (available in both still and sparkling) Rippl has expanded into water filtration solutions designed for modern living.

The custom-branded mineral water can offering is designed to help Australian businesses elevate their image through sustainable, health-conscious hydration without high Minimum Order Quantities (MOQ). To succeed in this space, Rippl required a production partner that could deliver eye-catching packaging with short turnaround times and the flexibility to accommodate low minimum orders.

“Rippl offers high-quality, digitally printed slimline aluminium cans filled with high-alkaline, mineral-rich water in both sparkling and still. It’s a product people actually want to drink and share. From day one, we set out to disrupt the water industry by offering the most cost-effective way to put your brand directly into your customers’ hands, while also being healthy and sustainable,” said Bade Hilton, CEO of Rippl.

“Every can needed to be completely tailored to the customer, which is what makes it such a powerful brand tool. That meant we needed a partner who could move quickly without compromising quality. Onpack made that possible.”

To bring its custom-branded can concept to life at scale, Rippl partnered with Onpack to implement a fast, sustainable production process using the latest digital printing technology. Powered by the state-of-the-art Hinterkopf digital printing machines supplied and supported by Jet Technologies, Onpack’s direct-to-can printers eliminate the need for labels or sleeves. The result is full-colour, high-resolution graphics printed directly onto aluminium. The solution offers a seamless, waste-free solution ideal for short runs, seasonal campaigns and brand activations.

Since partnering with Onpack, Rippl has created over 716 unique can designs for businesses across the country, delivering over 300,000 cans to Australian businesses.

“Rippl’s business model demands agility, precision and speed,” said Michael Nankervis, Managing Director at Onpack. “Because our process is entirely digital, we can transform a blank can into a fully branded product within 48 hours. Our solution requires no tooling, no plate costs and delivers no waste. From design to filling, we can help brands move from concept to shelf in as little as two weeks, something traditional printing methods just can’t match”

Rippl operates on a four-week production cycle, aggregating customer orders over a four-week period. At the end of each cycle, Onpack prints up to 30,000 cans across 40 to 70 designs within a 48-hour window. Two days later, the cans are filled in Melbourne and shipped nationwide, ensuring high-quality output with exceptional efficiency. This synchronised model allows Rippl to manage demand variability while maintaining consistent quality and fast turnaround.

Onpack’s direct can printing process eliminates the need for labels or sleeves. This reduces waste and energy use while offering sharp, full-colour graphics with no setup costs. As one of only two providers in Australia with this capability, Onpack bridges the gap between small-run customisation and large-scale packaging.

“We set out to create a product that businesses would be proud to put their name on. Something premium, sustainable, and truly distinctive. That vision demanded more than just great mineral water, it required packaging that could carry a brand. Onpack’s technology has allowed us to deliver completely custom cans at speed and scale, without compromising on quality or environmental values,” said Hilton.

Rippl’s custom-branded cans are used by a wide range of clients, including corporate offices, retail & event organisers. The cans are available in matte or gloss finishes, with minimum orders starting at just 240 units and lead times ranging from two to five weeks.
